This is why we include DIAGNOdent laser screening technology while examining your teeth. This technology helps us detect cavities more accurately to treat them before they become a bigger problem.  DIAGNOdent is a handheld laser that emits harmless yet powerful light pulses into the teeth. These pulses bounce back and convert into sound waves. The DIAGNOdent digital system then analyzes these sound waves, which gives us a reading that lets us know if there are any areas of tooth decay present. It is comfortable and fast and doesn’t require any x-rays, which means it is entirely safe for adults and children. It can help us quickly detect all signs of tooth decay and stop cavities before they become a more expensive and more uncomfortable problem to fix.   The Dental Services We Offer in Midway, Utah At Prince Dental Group, we offer a wide range of dental services to our patients in the Midway, UT, area. Affordable Dentist

At Prince Dental Group, we focus on smiles. Providing affordable dentist services in Midway and Heber Utah is one of the many ways we increase the number of smiles we see. We hope to help bring out your smile too.      Helping to Build Smile After Smile in Midway We encourage patients to keep their regular dental checkups because we know this is one way to promote excellent dental health. We want to help how we can with the associated costs. Dr. Prince understands the need for quality dental care at reasonable prices. Speak with us, and we’ll see what we can do to assist you with any low-cost financing options.   Getting Affordable Dentist Services Is Easier Than You Might Think Keeping your teeth in good shape is a great, easy way to save money on dental treatment. It is usually more expensive to treat tooth problems than to avoid them.  One of the best things you can do is brush and floss twice a day. Use fluoridated toothpaste and mouthwash, and visit Dr. Prince about twice per year for checkups and cleanings. Yes, it can be as simple as that. If you keep your teeth in great shape, you won’t need to visit the dentist as often. The fewer doctor’s visits you need, the less expensive your medical bills.   How Much Do Specific Dentistry Services Cost? Every patient is different and may have unique dentistry needs. At Prince Dental Group, we’re able to customize treatment based on your dental goals and our recommendations. Because treatments can vary, so can costs.  In general, some treatment options cost more than others. For example, dental fillings, which are composite resin shaped onto the tooth to correct cavities, usually cost less than dental implants. So saving money on your dental treatment not only includes taking good enough care of your teeth to require simpler, less expensive treatments but also choosing a less expensive option. Dentures might be less expensive, for example, than implants, while both accomplish similar dental objectives. Here is a list of dental services, from least expensive to most expensive, which can be a general guide for costs. Again, costs may vary, so this list is only intended to give an idea of costs rather than specifics: Fillings Dental Bonding Root Canal Tooth Extraction Dental Crown Dental Veneers Dental Implants   It’s also important to note that you get what you pay for. It would be best if you chose dental procedures not solely based on price but also on your dentist’s recommendations and what you will be getting for the price you are paying. While dentures might be less expensive than implants, they may not function as well, look as well, or be as long-lasting as implants.    You’ll Need an Affordable Dentist You Can Trust Of course, no matter how well you take care of your teeth, you never know when a dental problem will arise. Even if you brush and floss regularly, almost anyone could develop a cavity at some point. That’s why it’s crucial to deal with a dentist you can rely on and who can provide you with reasonable dental prices. We strive to provide more dentistry services at Prince Dental Group for less money. We’ll do everything we can to work with your dental insurance provider if you have one. If you don’t have dental insurance, we’ll work with you on any options we can help with.    Affordable Dentist Serving the Midway and Heber City, UT Community Dr. David Prince leads a team dedicated to your satisfaction in service, comfort, and price. Please don’t put it off any longer. Call us today. The sooner we get you started on our quality dental care, the more likely we can keep you in excellent dental health and your prices low. Time is money, after all. And saving money means increasing smiles.

Tooth Extractions
Tooth Extractions and Recovery

Depending on how well we take care of them, our teeth can last us a lifetime. When it comes to minor tooth decay, at Prince Dental Group, we stress the importance of restoring your teeth as soon as possible, which is why we will talk about tooth extractions and recovery options. If decay progresses and eventually becomes severe, there might be grounds for a possible tooth extraction. Although decay is a common reason for tooth extraction, it isn’t the only one. Other reasons would include:  Removing one or more teeth from an overcrowded mouth in preparation for orthodontic treatment  If there is a risk of infection or a severe infection has already occurred  Wisdom tooth extraction  Tooth has experienced trauma such as a tough break, and natural tooth restoration is impossible  In most cases, when there is a need for a tooth to be extracted, there is always a tooth restoration available to you here at our Midway, Utah dental office.    Tooth Extractions and Recovery Process Post-Extraction Tooth Extraction Basics  Oral surgeons and general dentists are authorized to perform tooth extractions in their offices. Upon receiving the recommendation for extraction by Dr. Prince, he will decide on a treatment plan and time of extraction. When it comes time for your tooth extraction, a couple of our team members will help prepare you and your mouth for the procedure. For lengthy procedures such as wisdom tooth extractions, we administer local anesthesia and a deep form of sedation such as IV sedation. Local anesthesia will be allocated for regular extractions to ensure no pain during the procedure. Patients will feel some pressure but no sharp pains. Understanding that patients may have anxiety surrounding tooth extractions, we offer minor sedation to help you feel more calm and comfortable in our dental chair.  The tooth extraction procedure will take between 20-40 minutes, depending on the type of extraction and the placement of your tooth. Once your tooth and surrounding areas have been completely numbed, the extraction will begin with an elevator tool to separate the gums from the tooth. Detaching the gums from the tooth will allow for more mobility, therefore a smoother extraction. From there, your dentist will use forceps to move your tooth back and forth until it is loose enough to remove. Once the tooth is removed, your dentist will add sutures if necessary. This procedure is done under anesthesia, so you will need someone to drive you home.    What Should I do After a Tooth Extraction? Immediately after your procedure, a clot will begin to form where your extraction was. It is essential to avoid dislodging the clot. A few ways to prevent dislodging the cloth are avoiding rinsing your mouth vigorously after the procedure and not using a straw. We also recommend that patients hold firm pressure on the area for 45 minutes after the process to help the clot form. Many patients find it beneficial to eat a soft diet 24 hours following the procedure. Lastly, we may recommend antibiotics and pain medicine following a tooth extraction.  A day after your procedure, you should begin brushing and flossing your teeth as usual. You can now start rinsing your mouth gently with saltwater. Lastly, if you notice swelling or have pain in your tooth, place an ice pack on your cheek to reduce swelling and pain. You can expect it to take between 3-4 weeks for an extraction to heal.    When Can I go back to Work or School After a Tooth Extraction?  Typically, we ask patients to take the day off during their extraction to relax from the procedure and wait for the anesthesia to wear off. Time off of work is also recommended because it allows the clot to form where the tooth was extracted — an essential piece of recovery. You will need to request off from work or school depending on the size of the tooth extracted and its placement. You may be asked to recover between 2-3 days, depending on the extent of your surgery.    Tooth extraction can be an extensive surgery depending on the tooth extracted. Our patients must understand the procedure along with recovery tasks and time. For more information about tooth extractions and recovery or to schedule an appointment, call our office today.

Dental Crowns at Prince Dental Group

Dental crowns are artificial tooth caps that strengthen a tooth when enamel is lacking. Each dental crown is custom-designed to your specific tooth anatomy and is made out of either ceramic or porcelain material. Crowns can protect an already weak tooth from breaking, serve as a large filling for a tooth, or cover misshaped or stained teeth. The main purpose of a dental crown is to improve the functionality of a tooth after decay or infection.  Dental professionals will usually suggest a dental crown when a severe cavity has been diagnosed that will compromise the stability of your natural tooth. If a tooth crown is the best option, we will take an impression of your tooth and make a mold to send to a dental laboratory where the artificial crown will be created.  Each crown fabricated will be personalized to match your natural tooth color and  size to ensure it will blend in with surrounding teeth.  At the first appointment, you can expect an x-ray to be taken of the area where the crown is needed to ensure that the surrounding bone and tissues are healthy. The dental professional will then need to remove all existing decay and take another impression. A temporary crown will be placed on the remaining portion of the tooth until your permanent crown is ready.  At the second and last appointment, the artificial tooth will be placed and bonded onto the remaining tooth. The temporary crown will be removed and the dentist will check the fit. The tooth will then be cleaned to remove any bacteria, debris, or imperfections that would create issues after the crown is placed.  Using a special dental adhesive, the crown will be placed in its final position and left alone for 10-15 minutes to let the adhesive harden. All excess glue will be removed from the surrounding area. To ensure that the fit and the bite are correct, the dentist will use dental instruments to measure the resting bite position, and will file down the crown if necessary. If taken care of properly, dental crowns can last a lifetime.  At Prince Dental Group of Midway, Utah, we provide only the best artificial restorations and treatments. If you need a crown placed, we make it our priority to ensure you are left with a smile that you are proud of. Please call or reach out to us if you have any questions regarding the placement of dental crowns or how to care for your crown if you already have one.

Cosmetic
Teeth Whitening vs. Veneers

When it comes to cosmetic dental treatments, there is a wide range available. Cosmetic dentistry is a dental specialty focused on enhancing the appearance of your smile. The two most popular treatments at Prince Dental Group are professional teeth whitening and veneers. Although both of these treatments can enhance your smile, the treatments are different and can benefit you in different ways! Please continue reading to further understand the two procedures and what benefits they offer. Teeth Whitening  Professional teeth whitening is the most common treatment thanks to its fast, affordable, and an easy treatment process. Many patients turn to over-the-counter whitening products, but only teeth whitening treatments performed by a dental professional can provide dramatic, lasting results. Your smile can become 5-10 shades brighter in just one visit with our high-quality professional whitening treatment.  There are 2 ways that you can undergo a whitening treatment: at-home whitening trays or an in-office treatment using Zoom whitening.  At-Home Whitening at home gives you the convenience and ability to whiten your teeth in the comfort of your own home when it is most convenient for you. We fabricate personalized teeth whitening trays that can be worn with small amounts of bleach according to your dentist’s instructions. Through at-home whitening, the brightness of your smile can significantly improve in as little as a few treatments..  In-Office  Phillips Zoom whitening brightens your smile using light-activated whitening gel and a chairside LED accelerator. In only 90 minutes the stains on your teeth will be broken down and removed.  Almost every patient can benefit from teeth whitening. Ask our professionals about which type of whitening would be best for you.  Veneers  Porcelain veneers are highly versatile, thin shells made out of porcelain that are adhered to the front side of all visible teeth. Veneers can change multiple characteristics of your smile at once. Veneers can correct the following features:  Crooked teeth  Unwanted gaps  Naturally uneven teeth  Yellowing and discoloration  Minor chips and breaks  Veneers are a great option for patients that are looking for a complete smile makeover.  The entire veneer treatment consists of only 2 appointments in our office. At the first appointment, your teeth will be prepared to receive the veneers by removing a thin layer of the enamel. An oral scan or a dental impression will then be taken of your teeth and sent to the dental laboratory to make your custom veneers. Then, before you leave, temporary veneers will be placed to protect your teeth.  At the last appointment, porcelain veneers will be checked for fit and then cemented onto your teeth. Although veneers are an excellent option to enhance your smile, they are unfortunately not permanent. If taken care of properly, dental veneers will last decades.  Contact Prince Dental Group  Please give our office in Midway, Utah, a call if you are considering enhancing your smile with a cosmetic dental procedure.

Root Canal Therapy in Midway, Utah Prince Dental Group dentist in Midway, UT Dr. David Prince
Restorative
Root Canal Therapy in Midway, Utah

When it comes to severe tooth decay, our priority is to do everything that we can to help save the natural tooth. There are many excellent full tooth restorations available, and at Prince Dental Group, we offer a wide range of these procedures to help restore your smile and your confidence.  Root canal treatment is one of the many restorative procedures we offer and it can save a diseased tooth from falling out or extraction. The center of each tooth is called the pulp, and it is full of nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. Once the pulp is infected, it is best to remove it completely to prevent further decay.  The Therapy  The pulp of the tooth is located in the innermost part of the tooth crown and root canal. To remove the pulp, the dentist will drill into the tooth and then extract the infected tissue using s thin root canal instruments. This process can be lengthy depending on the extent of the decay.  Once all of the pulp has been removed from the crown and the roots, it is essential to clean and disinfect the inner portion of the tooth to flush out any lasting decay. Without the pulp, the tooth will be hollow. Filling the tooth with an antibacterial sealant is necessary to maintain the strength and density of the tooth.  To restore the anatomy and beauty of the tooth post root canal therapy, a filling or a tooth crown may be necessary. Placing a restorative material on the tooth after the treatment will seal off the tooth to any further damage. Signs You Need a Root Canal  Teeth that need a root canal will not always present signs of pain and discomfort. Some common signs that a root canal might be needed include:  Severe toothache  Prolonged sensitivity to cold or hot temperatures  Pain while chewing or applying any level of pressure  Darker discoloration of a tooth  Bleeding or swelling of the gums surrounding a tooth  We encourage you to pay attention to your teeth and call us at Prince Dental Group of Midway, Utah, if you are experiencing any of the above signs. It is impossible to know for sure if you require root canal therapy without a diagnosis from a dental professional. Please come see us as early as possible!

What To Do If You Broke Your Tooth Prince Dental Group dentist in Midway, UT Dr. David Prince

What To Do If You Broke Your Tooth

Although the enamel that covers the teeth is one of the hardest and mineralized tissues in the human body, it also has limits to its strengths. And several factors can cause it to break or crack – from receiving a massive blow to your face or falling to biting on something too hard. A broken tooth can cause you to worry, but you shouldn’t, as there are several things you and your dentist can do to fix it. Let’s take a look at some of them. What You Can Do After Breaking Your Tooth Cracked tooth If you experience a crack on your tooth or a minor chip, you can take some safety measures before visiting your dentist. For example, you’ll need to stay away from biting on hard substances or eating food that is tough to chew. It would be best if you also avoided foods with extreme temperatures. You can opt for over-the-counter pain medication as and when you need to. Broken Teeth If you experience a broken tooth, your best option is to call or visit a reliable dentist like Prince Dental Group in Midway, Utah, or near you immediately. But before you receive professional help, there are a few things you can do.  Rinse your mouth gently with salt water or warm water. Apply a cold compress to the outer region where the broken tooth is. Place a gauze into the area to help soak up any bleeding. Alternatively, you can also use a wet tea bag. It is important to note that if there’s any bleeding, it should subside after 10 minutes.  If you experience a severe tooth break, you need to see your dentist within 24 hours. But the earlier, the better. If that is impossible, you can opt for dental cement as a quick fix until you see your dentist.  If your tooth removes completely, you need to visit your dentist as a matter of emergency. When handling the tooth, do not grab it by the root. Only handle it by the crown. Although it is possible to place the tooth back into its socket, it needs to be done the right way by your dentist.  How Your Dentist Can Help You Dental bonding or filling: If you chipped a small portion of your tooth, your dentist could repair the damage with dental bonding or filling. Bonding is often the preferred treatment if the damage is caused to the front part of your tooth. The process uses a tooth-colored composite resin. Dental cap or crown: If you lose a large part of your tooth, your dentist may resort to grinding or filing away a section of the damaged tooth and shielding it with a tooth-shaped crown or cap. Doing this will help protect the remaining tooth while improving its appearance. Dental veneers: Your dentist can also use a dental veneer to make a broken or chipped tooth look healthy and whole again. This option will cover the entire front portion of the tooth. Root canal therapy: If your tooth breaks or chips considerably that it exposes your pulp, it may be exposed to bacteria contained in your mouth. Your dentist can use root canal therapy to remove any dead pulp, clean the root canal, and seal it.

TMJ-TMD Prince Dental Group dentist in Midway, UT Dr. Prince What To Do If You Have A Tooth Ache
Uncategorized
What To Do If You Have A Tooth Ache

A feeling of dread can come over you when you realize that your tooth is aching. Something might be wrong with your tooth, perhaps requiring a trip to the dentist and treatment such as a filling or root canal treatment. When you first have an aching tooth, it can be easy to ignore it or brush it off, especially when the pain comes and goes or is only there at certain times. However, by ignoring a toothache, whatever is causing it could get worse. And if your tooth stops aching, it won’t necessarily be a good sign. If you’re in Midway, Utah, make an appointment with us at Prince Dental Group for a checkup. Meanwhile, it can be helpful to do the following things when you have a toothache. Rinse Your Mouth Rinsing your mouth out can help to remove anything that might be irritating your tooth. It also helps you to ensure your mouth is clean. You can use salt water or a mix of equal parts water and hydrogen peroxide. Whatever you use, make sure you spit it out when you’re done – don’t swallow it. Swish the liquid gently around your mouth before spitting it out. You might also find that it helps to gently floss around your tooth to remove any bits of food. Use OTC Pain Relievers When you’re in pain, taking a painkiller will help to relieve it. However, it’s important to remember it won’t deal with the cause of the pain, so it’s still important to get your sore tooth checked out. You can use over-the-counter painkillers such as ibuprofen or aspirin. If you use aspirin, it should be swallowed. You might have heard that you should put it on your tooth, but this can do more harm than good. As well as taking painkillers in the form of pills or tablets, you can use gels or liquids that relieve pain. These contain benzocaine, which helps to numb the pain for a little while. If you want a natural alternative to this, you can try clove oil, which also helps to numb the area around your tooth. Try a Cold Compress Using something cold is a good way to treat pain and reduce swelling and inflammation. If your face is swollen, use an ice pack to help bring the swelling down and perhaps treat the pain too. It’s important to see a dentist if your face is swollen because it could be a sign of an infection, an abscess, or other problems. See a Dentist The most important thing to do when you have a toothache is to make an appointment with a dentist. They will check your tooth for you and find out what the problem might be, before recommending the best course of treatment. While at-home remedies might help to relieve the pain, they won’t cure the cause. When you need a dentist in Midway, Utah, for a toothache, make an appointment with us at Prince Dental Group. We offer friendly and honest treatment with high-quality care.
